In the year 1945 DN Krishnaiah Shetty started his service towards education and uplifting society in general and he received the prestigious national award - The Padma Shri in 1968. He even donated his most prized possession which was the school land that he owned to the government in the heart of Bangalore - Padmashri Lokasevaniratha DN Krishnaiah Shetty memorial school, in Avenue road stands tall even to this day!
