Documents and the points system
For day-to-day learning, document requirements are fairly consistent across Srinagar: birth certificate, residence proof, parent ID, child photographs and prior school records where applicable. A growing number of CBSE schools also use a points-based shortlist for nursery and Class 1 — sibling, alumni, distance and gender categories are the most common scoring axes. Each school page on AdmissionSchool spells out its current criteria.
Practical timing tips
Apply on the day registrations open at your top two or three schools — first-come-first-served is a real factor at the popular campuses. Keep digital copies of all documents in one folder, and schedule campus visits before the form deadline rather than after; the visit is the single best signal of classroom culture.
If you miss the window
Missing the formal admission cycle in Srinagar usually means waiting for mid-session vacancies or the next academic year. The enquiries form on each school page still records your interest and the admissions team typically reaches out when seats free up.
